Root [Verizon] SuperUser

TALONTRAX

Android Enthusiast
For some reason, the SuperUser app has disappeared from my app drawer. So . . . I browsed around the phone, & it appears that it`s completely gone from the device ??
I know that the superuser app is installed automatically in the root process, & it seems as though I still have complete root access & all root apps are working normally as well. Hmm . . . strange. I do have a theory on maybe why this happened . .

About a week ago I installed CleanRom 7. Wasn`t really impressed with it, so I Restored to a backup I made just before the CleanRom 7 install (Cleanrom 6r2). I guess what I`m asking is . . .

1. Do I need the superuser app ?
2. Did the Rom install remove it from system/app somehow ?
3. Does my current rom (CleanRom 6r2) have superuser built into it ?

I think it does because in terminal emulator, I type in su + enter & it still allows me to run root-access scripts. I`m just curious as to how/why it disappeared & if it matters @ all that it`s gone . . .

Hey buddy:)
Superuser, I think Super-superuser is included in both Clean rom 6 and 7.
Yes you need the app....I think the app is what grants permission to rooted apps.

I remember on my Evo flashing a superuser .zip and downloading the app. They work hand in hand:)

I do seem to remember an update for Super-superuser app in the Play store and it warned that after the update, the icon might disappear. A reboot would fix that tho....I don't know if this is what you encountered but....

Did you update the SU app and then have this issue?

Hey there Mike !!

Yes . . . I think the phone automatically updated the s/u app & said that it needed to reboot to update the binary. I think that`s when this happened. It`s no big deal . . . everything is working normally & I still get the small messages near the bottom that say "so & so app has been granted super user permissions". I still have full root access & function as well.

Ok . . . What I did was browsed my CleanRom 6R2 zip, found & extracted the SuperSu apk file & re-installed it. Bam. Then it popped up again for a reboot to update the binary. It ran an automated script which booted into recovery & proceeded to update & automatically boot back the system. All is well (as it was before) again ;)

To update the binary, you had to reboot?

I don't understand??? Whenever I get the message to update binaries, it asks me if I want to do it via recovery, or the normal way. I choose the normal way and, presto!!, updated.

hmmmm:)
Well, glad ya got goin' Talon:D

Actually it did ask . . . But the only option was to boot into recovery. It asked if twrp/cwm was installed so I Tapped ok & it ran the script. Sooo . . . What is the "normal way" anyway ??
