Hi I'm planning on purchasing a new family plan contract later this year for me and my mom.

Doe's anyone know if their will new basic phones for Verizon? -- My mom needs a simple phone with no Data Package

Also I work at Target, Do I qualify for a Data Plan Discount as well. I know Voice is 20% Discount.

What will they ask me for in Verizon Store as proof of employment?

Any Target Employees Here that can tell what their Monthly bill looks like?

I'm thinking about the 700 Minute Plan with Unlimited texts.

I don't work at Target so can't help with those specific details but I do get a 20% discount through my employer. It is applied to voice AND data, they each get the discount which is nice.
How much texting is your mom going to do? You may be better off getting Google Voice and using that for yourself (free texting) and either paying a per text fee (.20 for or .25 for mms) or maybe the $5. text plan (250) for your mom.
I have five lines on my family plan, three are Androids with no text plan and GV, one has the $5 text plan and one never uses texts at all. I only pay $5 and three lines have unlimited texting thanks to GV. It may just be a good option for you too.

It works just like regular texting, just to a different number. It doesn't do MMS though, I make people send those in emails.
Install the GV app and read/compose your texts (and voicemail) through that, or online. It's really a great thing and can be used for multiple purposes. But for texting it's pretty simple, it has to be set up correctly (not to forward texts to your mobile) and then it's free. The biggest problem is getting your friends to text that number.
Do a search of the forums, there are a bazillion threads about using it and setting it up.
