Root [Verizon] [To Developers] Verizon Galaxy S3 Working on T-Mobile

To developers:
I have a Verizon Wireless Samsung Galaxy S3 with Android Version 4.0.4. It is currently rooted and unlocked using ez-unlock that I found here.

I also have all the following apps which allowed me to have it working on T-Mobile:
APN Manage Pro
Titanium Backup Pro
Phone Info
Easy Installer
Rom Manager.

I am giving my phone to you guys to be a test subject, to have Verizon Galaxy S3 fully working on T-Mobile. Right now everything is working fine except that I am on Edge and MMS seems not to work.

Whatever you may think of, let me know, I will run the test and give you the feedback. I don't mind whatever might happen to the phone. I will just get another one and continue with the tests.

I know I can just get a plan with Verizon, but I don't want to do that, or just get a T-Mobile GS3, I don't want to do that either. I simply want to see if Any phone can go on any network by starting with Verizon GS3 to T-Mobile. I know well that there is a difference in frequencies limitations for both these carriers, but the word impossible doesn't exist in my vocabulary.

Ask me whatever you want, and I would be happy to answer.

MustangFTW is working on it on his own though.

I may be wrong, but Verizon is CMDA and T-Mobile is GSM. Verizon uses the sim card to get LTE only. T-Mobile uses the sim card for every thing. They also have different radios. Since impossible does not exist in your vocabulary you need to get a dictionary that has it.

Hey there!

Unlocking phones in the U.S. is illegal now without the carriers blessing. Major bummer I know but the law is the law! Also, from a technical perspective, you're not going to be able to get a Verizon CDMA handset working on Tmobile GSM unless it's a Quadband "world phone". I don't think Verizon's Galaxy S3 has GSM Radios, my GS3's on Sprint surely don't!

The Verizon version does have GSM bands, operative on the Global: GPRS/EDGE/GSM (850/900/1800/1900); HSPA/UMTS (2100). So it should get voice, sms, EDGE, and 3g, but no HSPA+ 4g. If it's anything like the Motorola world phones, it is unlocked natively for world carriers, but is locked to prevent US gsm carrier usage.

It is okay. I will keep following the process on other threads. Although I am not an expert, I will keep meddling with the phone. Technology changes every single day.

Hey jhawkkw,
Thank you very much again for your comments. I am just waiting to see if I can get this VZW GS3 up to 3G only. I don't mind not having HSPA+4G.

Upon further research, you won't be able to get 3g. It appears T-Mobile HSPA is on the 1700 and 1900 spectrum, where the Verizon gs3 only has 2100 HSPA compatibility. AT&T doesn't even have 2100 HSPA compatibility(they have 850 & 1900) so that won't work either. Sorry :(

:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:Whew, I see!
Thank you again.

Oh wow! Looks like you learn something new every day. I wish mine had the GSM bands. Lol.
