Root [Verizon] unlock/ root for gsm

With 4.3, wondering if its possible to unlock/ root to be able to get on AT&T (H2O) GSM network?

Has anyone been able to unlock the bootloader yet?

Seems that its not possible...yet.

It's possible to SIM-unlock the phone. It's possible to root the phone. It's not yet possible to unlock the bootloader.

I thought that Verizon was CDMA and the "Sim" slot was for their LTE and not really a sim card. Just curious.

If it has the lte card aka iccu card it maybe unlocked already if someone can make a ril patch for the radio what bands do it have

Ok, thanks for the replies.

Sorry, I still not clear though if sim-unlocking and rooting this Verizon device will allow use of another carrier, or just allow for international use...I have no experience here.

Also, if this is possible, will 4g data work?

If the ril patch works it wont need to unlock cause it is already just waiting for the gsm sims card maybe a root to edit your build.prop so u can get full signal and bars will show

As I am a total noob here, I am still not clear though...

It seems that with this patch, you need a custom rom, but my phone is not rooted but on the 4.3 OTA from Verizon (or is it from Samsung?).

So for this to work, the phone first needs to be rooted and then the path needs ro be applied?

Is there a way to get 4g? It seema that this patch will only enable 3g, correct?

Has anyone been successful with this same procedure from the 4.3 OTA? My research is making me regret taking the OTA...

You didn't read the info I gave its a universal patch that works also . and the reason I spend my time helping you with this was because I just flashed to gsm with a Verizon device . if u feel I am telling a bag of lies you can unbag the truth just from calling Verizon to get the truth facts I gave you the threads . try it out but the key thing is before you root MAKE A BACKUP . so if any questions I am here to give u answers

Also if u root u Dont need a custom rom . you can use the stock rom . and when u done just unroot if you Dont want to be rooted. Now if your rooted just flash the universal zip in the recovery . the patch tell you to put lte>CDMA>gsm
