Shocked as how big the S3 is & this forum doesnt have many updates on customs roms..

Coming from the SGN, the root section of this forum was my one stop for anything needed. Many roms to choose from - i guess im spoiled.

Hate TW, will only use AOSP. Doesn't seem like there are many option for an up to date AOSP. on CM10 now and have found a couple glitches.. was a huge fan of liquid but it looks like non of their builds are completely stable with people reverting back to build #5

I find XDA confusing.. as looking at roms in the detected "vzw s3" section the devs show pictures and reference to other android phone.

am i off track here? about to jump ship from verizon find a N4 which sucks because i really do like the S3 hardware.

What AOSP rom are you running?

btw i support the devs that i used in the past on SGN

I've been running Liquid for a month or longer now. Started with the RC7 flavor and just this past Friday I flashed the RC9. Both have been very dependable for me - I would even say they have been 'stable' :D

I came over from the EVO 4G (OG) and I know what you're saying because the root section there was a one-stop-shop kind of deal too! It will take some time I s'pose to get this thing up and rolling like that! Hang in there :smokingsomb:

You wont believe this, but i JUST NOW actually typed out a similar post regarding this phone being the heaviest marketed i have seen, yet the dev community seems a bit "lacking" ... i decided not to post it.

I completely agree with you! I came from the HTC Incredible, and the community seemed more active than this.

Here, it seems like there are more developers, but its sloppy or something. ROMs dont get finished or refined, too many cooks going the way of the nightlys (release it with absurd amounts of bugs) and not focusing on finishing the project, before jumping into a different project completely.

I decided not to post it because I am not a developer, and I dont want to appear ungrateful. I know they all work very hard, and receive a lot of crap from people.

Another thing i miss coming from the dInc, is a living thread with all ROM's & mods, updated daily if needed. I decided not to post that because then someone will just tell me to do it myself, but I dont have the time to contribute to it. As you said, XDA does get confusing and stuff is all over the place, and heaven forbid you ask a question over there lol

Bottom line, i completely agree with you.

Developers can never win.

They spend all their free time making a bug free rom for everybody, and they all just want it right now.

So they open up and start pushing nightlies for people that want to be on the cutting edge, and they complain about bugs.

You have to remember these people volunteer their free time away from family and friends and other real world responsibilities in life to give something back to the community absolutely free of charge.

I don't think asking "where are my free handouts" is the correct course of action. I'm not directing that at anyone in particular, because everyone gets excited for new roms.

If you are interested in speeding things up, the Web is full of how-tos to get you started on learning how to make your own rom.

Absolutely, agreed 1000%! Which is why i decided not to make my post lol. I appreciate all of the hard work that goes into what these guys do, and hate to make a post that can even be construed as a complaint.

BTW while im not a developer, I actually do work in mobile software development. So i have intimate knowledge of what goes on, and the lack of appreciation that comes from it.
