Verizon Wireless Plan

Well i just got my incredible today at bestbuy and they gave me a printout of my first bill.

The monthly recurring charges is 74.98

but they are also charging me a partial month billing from 5/29/10 - 6/03/10 for $42.73, i mean really? can't they start the monthly plan today?

theres also a 35$ activation charge making my first bill a total of nearly 134.52

do you guys think if i call verizon, they will waive the partial month billing?

Nope

wait. so you want them to partial bill you for an extra day? they already gave u a free evening of service... look at the partial bill dates.. 5/29/10.. that's today. not last night. be thankful they gave u a free couple hours... i say you got a steal.

I think his gripe is he is paying nearly forty-three dollars for less than a week's worth of service - twice as much he would pay if Verizon simply pro-rated this billing period's remaining time.
I don't know for sure, but I doubt calling Verizon will get the partial charge waived. The only possible positive outcome I see here is maybe they charge you on a per-day basis rather than the $43. Again, I doubt anything will come from a call - this is most likely just policy and one phone call will not do much to alter it. Give it a go and let us know how it turns out.

Good luck, and glad you got your new phone before a lot of us who decided to order directly through the Big Red check mark.

Wait, did you mean the partial billing was $42.73 or $24.73? I'm having a little trouble with your math, as $134 doesn't seem right with a $74 monthly + $43 partial + $35 activation.

Sorry if I'm not hip to the Verizon billing process, I usually just get the bill and cut the check. :-P

all carriers bill one month in advance. Even if they were to start the billing cycle that day, you won't get a bill until next month... and then it would be *2* full months! Sometimes you luck out and get a bill cycle date of a day or 2 ahead, but it's random- there's no way to set it at point of sale. You CAN call in to change it, but it's not recommended because you get 2 prorated bills-- the end of the old cycle, and the start of the new. The proration is not only for money, but also for usage, so you could end up going over your plan allowance if you're
not careful.

oh, and no- you won't get your partial charges waived. the ONLY possible way, and it's unlikelyl even still, is if you don't use your phone AT ALL during that first week, then call in and stake your claim.
