Help Very frustrating update

kunzy

Newbie
OK I've made two mistakes by updating my last two cellphones (note 2 and note 4) with the "new and improved available updates" at there given times. I knew better with the note 4 and held off for over a month from downloading lollipop but gave in thinking things would be better. The same thing happened (the note 2 as well ) signal strength would drop, battery drain ( due to the constant searching for signal ) in a place ( work ) that before given updates I would be streaming Netflix with 4G lte and two bars. I've also factory restored note 4 reading that helps after a software update to no avail.
So with my unbelievable frustration (ready to chuck my phone against a wall or worse switch to iPhone) I'm ready to root which I've never done before. My questions 1) rooting will get rid of lollipop ? 2) can I unroot when I'm ready to sell phone 3)being rooted can I get rid of bloatware? 4)is there something I'm not trying that would help before I root?

If you are on AT&T or Verizon, you can't root. The bootloader is completely and hopelessly encrypted. If you have a different version of the Note 4, then go ahead and root away, knowing that you can always unroot.

Rooting, in and of itself, will not replace your Android 5 operating system. It simply gives you access to the root partitions (Boot, Recovery, Data, System, Cache, Dalvik) that most users can never see. Once you have that access, you can install a custom recovery like TWRP or ClockworkMod that allows you to install a replacement OS into the read-only memory (that's why they're called ROMs).

Read a LOT! And ask any questions BEFORE proceeding! Good luck!

Just remember it's not Lollipop that's at fault, it's what the makers/carriers do with it when they get their hands on it before releasing it to you the customer. Phil

I'm with Verizon so I guess I'm throwing this piece of junk against the wall. .....is there something else I can do factory reset again ?
