Very slow Samsung Messaging/SMS app

Hi,

I have more than 25000 SMS messages at the moment. I don't delete them and backup/restore with SMS backup app each time I change phone or do a factory reset.

Default Note 4 SMS app is very slow. I don't have idea is it slow because of the big amount of messages or is it lagging by design.

I use Google SMS app from Google Play and it doesn't lag at all (all the actions I do goes lightning fast). But Samsung SMS app lags almost on every step I make (texting is extremely painful).

Could anybody confirm that there's no lag with a small amount of messages (or 1000 messages - default setting for autodelete)?
Does anybody have experience with huge number of messages?

Thanks!

Hi, I only keep about 30 messages on my phone, running Marshmallow, and I have not noticed any lag when writing or sending messages with the stock message app. Phil

25000 messages. that right there is a red flag. what could you possible NEED with that many messages? lock the ones you must, delete the rest.

I don't need them. I just like the concept - never delete anything.

That's why I have them so many.

Anyway.. Thanks for answers.. This mean app just can't handle so many messages. Kudos to Google Messaging app which doesn't have that problem.

Of course google app misses some functions (priority senders etc.). But I am sure those functions are not the reason Samsung app is slow. Must be something else.

You are your own Worst Enemy.
there is no way in hell you can glom onto anything worth looking at with all that junk still in your SMS backlog.

as said, lock the one or two terribly important message and delete all the rest... they are not worth a damn, and they do sure foul up the works... I only keep maybe one or two for each person I SMS back and forth, and the ONLY reason is so that their name is in my SMS inbox so I can reply to them fast.
