Here is the phone I've waited three years for.... WoooHooo!

It's MNP: My Next Phone.

The exact display size I've been craving for the longest time, everything else is secondary.

But wait, check out that robust battery.

Normally rather verbose this is going to be a brief post, excuse me while I book an airline flight to the UAE. YES! I'm going to import this baby myself, no waiting for this enthusiast... ha...ha...ha :D

Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro

6-inch 2560 x 1440 display
2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor
3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage
16 MP rear camera with dual LED flash
4,000mAh battery
Android 4.4 KitKat w/ Vibe UI 2.0
7.7mm thin
Metal unibody frame
Three colors: Black, gold and titanium

The perfect excuse for a month's vacation in the UAE. :)

Something to be aware of as you're importing the Lenovo, if you get any problems with it and need warranty service, you might find you'll have to go back to the UAE or to China with with it. Lenovo USA many not be able to help you, they only deal with laptops, tablets and PCs AFAIK, not phones. Lenovo doesn't distribute or sell phones in the US. Something probably more important, do you know if the Z2 has the US cellular bands? - as your carrier is listed as AT&T & T-Mobile. You get something like it does work, but you have slow GSM-EDGE only, no 3G or LTE. I've seen and had Lenovos previously, in China, and these didn't.

True. I've got a long very satisfying professional history with ThinkPad laptops. My first was a T22 after which I upgraded each year with a fresh T series model. In those days it was IBM that owned and created the ThinkPad, then several years ago they sold the entire laptop business to Lenovo. There was quite the controversy over this move within the blogosphere, one aspect of which was the fact that previously all the top federal agencies like the FBI, NSA, NASA, et al, used ThinkPad's exclusively. When selling out, they immediately canceled the contact since Lenovo was a Chinese company.

So yes you're quite correct about the info above. If not for my regular international business travel, it'd be quite impractical to consider this new phone. Furthermore as you've so thoughtfully stated, there's the issue of frequencies. Something I'm extremely familiar with due to the fact I'm deeply immersed in my passion for all aspects of mobile computing and communications. For years before the advent of smartphones I was routinely bringing in various unlocked, unbranded (carrier) GSM phones from all parts of the world. Therefore I most certainly will be sure the Z2 is equipped to run on my carriers before executing on my unfolding plan to go to Dubai and buy one.

Thanks for your extremely thoughtful post, since someone without my personal experience might easily overlook those facts and suddenly be in for a rude awakening...:)

Edit:
By the way, I really like your colorful and well designed avatar ... :D
