Can anyone tell me how strong the vibration motor is. Is it stronger than the OG Pixel XL?

When I played with it at Verizon it was very pleasing. Much better than my of pixel. I didn't really mess with the pixel 2 just the XL so I can't speak to the motor on the 5 in.

I was shocked last night by how my Pixel 2 XL was shimmying around my nightstand when I left it on vibrate. Now, I don't normally use the vibration feature since I have a Gear 2 for notifications, but I can tell you that when I accidentally left the vibration feature on, it was strong enough to rotate the phone.

My vibration motor is not strong at all. Not sure if it's my device or what but I can't feel or hear it when it's right in front of me on my desk.

The 5" is fine. Perhaps a little lower frequency than my old phone, but strong enough that I've not missed it so far.

Thinking about it, it is also possible that mine was shimmying because of the bump of the camera lens. Maybe since it wasn't TOTALLY flat on the table, it caused it to rotate.
