video player that intelligently (!) stretches the picture?

i have tried:

vitalplayer
qqplayer
rockplayer
meridian
seamanplayer
act 1 video

and only act 1 video attempts to do it but it doesn't work. which really makes me wonder because i'm sure android can play back videos full screen that have a resolution of exactly 800x480. but i guess act 1 doesn't really resize the video on the fly like e.g. avisynth does (and which a 1ghz cpu should be able to handle easily) but simply tries to display outside of the display. which some phones apparently don't like - what a surprise.

any tips for a video player that is able to do that? stretch full screen but keeping the aspect ratio and cutting the picture off? considering the size of a phone display, i'd rather have parts cut off than letterboxes.

Hmm, I assume your videos have 16:9 aspect ratio. This is not exactly fitting on a 800x480 display so the choice is either to crop borders or to add black borders.
As far as I remember, RockPlayer gives you the choice to select which mode you want. A tap on the screen should switch between the modes.
If I have time, I'll experiment with this.

yeah... as i described.

nope. it only has "original resolution", "stretched to full screen" and the regular full screen with letterbox. no full screen with cropping.
