Help Video Stops Playing after 2 minutes

Hello All,

Another odd problem now, every time I watch a video (Youtube or in embedded in a web page), it will stop playing after about 2 minutes, or I should say, it only loads about 2 minutes worth of data. This happens on both wi-fi and 3G/4G, and all the data connections dropped (connections go gray and don't come back unless the video/web is closed).

It seems to load music fine from Google Music, so I'm not sure if it's a Youtube problem or what. Anybody else getting this behavior?

I'm grandfathered with Verizon data plan, and I'm at around 600MB for the month.

Screen stays on, but it just stops playing the video. The data connection drops and doesn't return until the app is closed.

Well, three app updates and a restart (this phone is feeling very Windows-ish) and the problem vanished. However, again running the Youtube app the connection dies and exhibits the same symptoms, so I'm inclined to think that the Youtube app has got a throttling bug. Either that or, shock horror, some other bit of software is aggressively throttling the connections.

A side note, videos that are shorter than 2 minutes do load and play successfully. It's a bit odd, really. Screen timeout is 1 minute, and it does timeout if I don't bump the screen. Increasing the timeout didn't change the YouTube app's behavior.

If you are rooted, you can try instaling DroidWall and blocking all programs apart from Youtube. You will know it it is caused by another app using Internet or not.
