videos i recorded that played now won't play since I tranfered them to ext. sd

Why wont my videos play? I bought a sd card and tranfered my videos to it and immediately some of them wouldn't play but some did now some of those who did play no longer do. Also I set it so that when I recorded a video it would be automatically saved to the ext.sd and they wont play either.
