Have an LG Optimus running 2.2
Took some videos today for the first time, came home, and saw they were .3gp. Great....
First off, I have no audio on the files which play back on my PC.
Installed "K-Lite Full" enabled AMR in media player classic, still no video.
Grabbed a converter, the closest thing to keeping original resolution was for me to double the frame-rate from 15 to 30...Ugh.
However, I was able to hear audio and the video was not not much worse in .avi format.
Screwed around with some things for a bit and contemplated why most mobile devices STILL use these non-standard formats.
Installed VLC, and everything works.
My concern is with others who I share these videos with, they may experience the same no audio video unless they are using VLC.
Also, WIndows Live Movie maker has no audio when importing .3gp files, so need to convert to .avi first always. What a fail!
Anyone else think .3gp is a pain in the ass?
Do all android phones use this lousy format.
Are there options to use a more normal format while recording?
