View network harddrive using ES File Explorer.

Hey all,

I searched around a bit, couldn't seem to find anything very similar,
I do apologise if there is, I'm new here to all the terms and stuff.

I just managed to be able to view my harddrive from my computer,
and I would now like to do this from my phone, people on other forums
mentioned ES File Explorer, but for some reason I can not see my
HDD on the Local network, and I can't connect to it either.

Any help appreciated!

could you elaborate please?

es file detects my two laptops. but if i click on either of them, es asks for a username and password, and i have no idea what i'm supposed to do with that.

of the router? that doesn't work. i have no passwords on my laptops. of the windows 7 homegroup? every few months or so i come back to this, and still cannot use the LAN feature.

ES file explorer is a client, it needs an ID and password. You don't have an admin ID on your laptops? You also need to setup shares on the laptop.

Google sharing folders on Windows 7.

I have an external drive connected to my router, I use it as a NAS. I had to go into the router admin page to set what can be shared and with whom.

I of course can access everything as admin, but I also setup a guest account to share certain folders on the NAS.

As far as I know with Windows 7 the laptops should get user names and passwords for to use them with ES.

What brand? I manually add my NAS IP, then put in my username and password. You can log into it anonymously, if your shares are set up for it.
