Viking pro 10

A little bit more info would be nice, you've not really given us anything to go on.

What have you tried so far? What is the Viking Pro 10? A Phone? Tablet? What version of Android is it running etc?

Maybe I don't need to root my tablet for what I'm trying to accomplish ultimately try to use tablet specifically as a media center,player etc examp kodi or spmc.

You can root it with Kingo Root, but do a backup before. It could save you tablet from a soft brick.Root =&gt; <a href='https://www.kingoapp.com/' target='_blank' class='externalLink' rel='nofollow'>https://www.kingoapp.com/</a> (download for Windows)TWRP recovery =&gt; <a href='https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57437408&amp;postcount=113' target='_blank' class='externalLink' rel='nofollow'>https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57437408&amp;postcount=113</a>

Root => https://www.kingoapp.com/ (download for Windows)
TWRP recovery => https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57437408&postcount=113

That's for an older version of the tablet with the same name.

That method is for the RCT6103W46, according to the cnet link the OP provided their model name is RCT6303W87DK and has different specs.

Any root method I can find is for the older version.

@Nathan J Evans if you just want to run Kodi or SPMC, you don't need root. Also, if you've upgraded to 6.0 you can forget about 1-click root apps working, none of them do on Marshmallow and above.

Trying to install plex also says I should root

You don't need root for Plex. I have that installed on my unrooted tab and it works no problem.

Where are you installing from and when does it ask for root?
