[VIRGIN MOBILE] 3G/4G speeds

what speeds are you guys getting with virgin mobile?

i get around 1-2.5 mbs on 3g

on 4G, i get around 6-8 mbs, sometimes 10 mbs

these are download speeds

sprint says there upgrading there 4g to 4g maxx which bumps the speed up to 1gbps which is probably going to be the greatest thing sprint has every done. The only downside is that you have to get a "maxx" phone. There remaking some of their phones like the htc one and even upgrading them.

bad move imo

1) you need a new phone to take advantage

2) why not finish rolling out/improving LTE before even moving to 4g maxx

That's what they are doing they are trying to make software, but it's going to meed a better 4h antenna to revieve that kinda of speed a rumor going around says if they remake the phone you have you can switch to it for free

i doubt virgin mobile users would be able to take advantage if thats what is going to happen.

it would make sense for existing sprint users who are on contract

I'm getting 1.5 - 2 mbps on 3g and got 13.7 mbps two days ago on LTE. What's strange is inside my house, I only get 3g, but as soon as I step out on my deck, I'm getting 4g

Ericsson is doing a great job deploying 1900 LTE here, live in an area where hills and trees dominate get these speeds about a mile from the tower. Wish they would finish the tower that I connect to at home they only lack about 4 more sites to do here.

1900 LTE is what is currently being deployed its very finicky than the 3G signal, you could be on the edge of the LTE signal at your house.

What your referring to is Sprints "Spark" network which will run on Clear's old 2600Mhz WiMax spectrum for LTE, every Sprint cell site will have 1900 LTE 10x10Mhz being broadcast by early 2014 so those of you that have the 1900 LTE capable phones not to worry. 2600 LTE Band 41 has started in the bigger metro areas and the only phone able to use this tech. is the LG G2 which is a tri-band phone (800/1900/2600) the speeds are going to peak at 70-80Mbps. 2600Mhz has plenty of capacity for these speeds so 1Gbps could come years down the road, but 2600 has poor building penetration and can't carry a signal far. So when Sprint is finished with the upgrades you'll have LTE on 800/1900/2600, 1x voice on 800/1900, and 3G on 800/1900. :D

1900MHz and 800MHz will stay at 5x5MHz since there's not enough for 10x10 but with more than 100MHz of 2.5GHz spectrum if done right it will get you the 1GBps later on
