Root [Virgin Mobile] Can't install system update on rooted SPH-L710

BigTinz

Lurker
I've got two Virgin Mobile (sprint) L710s running 4.4.2 that I successfully rooted with odin a few months ago. They're both running stock roms, and we keep getting prompted to install a system update. Of course, the update fails and the message returns.

I'd like to keep these stock and rooted:

What's the best way to get rid of this system update notification?

Should I update to 4.4.4? How?

Thanks.

The update isn't 4.4.4. It stays 4.4.2 after the update. I am not sure what is in the update but it is rather small. To apply it, you would need to ODIN the NDC stock rom. Then apply the update. Re-root via ODIN of Philz recover and SuperSU.

I have same issue with update notification on my rooted S3 and I just want to get rid of notification and stop my phone from downloading it again. Can anyone help me on that as I don't care to update?

According to this Samsung link the 4.4.2 update is very minor:

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/S...?faq_id=FAQ00047405&fm_seq=51448&preview=true
  • Includes HD Voice Icon
  • Google security patches
Only ways to stop it that I know of are 1, to just update (easiest) or 2, change all instances of NDC in you build prop to nj3.

easy, disableservice, google play services "systemupdateservice"

***********edit*************** huge!

welll after a thew weeks, it will cause system to stay awake if you do that, best to change build.prop afterall
