What is a milestone release just a compilation of cm? Does it come with a boot loader? Did you remove the asserts and flash already? ?

To you and me it's just another nightly that we can expect to have a lot of things fixed and not many new things added that might need to be fixed.

The original developers, working with there own devices on the main "branch", will sometimes announce their latest build as a snapshot, release, etc. so that the dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of sponsors of other branches know it's a good time to recompile their own branches. Basically it's teamwork and time management along with a benchmark to go back to If something that was working becomes broken again.

No bootloader. CM or ASOP roms don't include bootloaders, generally. Stock ROMs usually do.
