Help Virgin Mobile GPS issues

pwd847

Newbie
I have spent hours trying to figure this out. I have JD3. I have been running Pac-Rom. I use the Pico or Nano Gapps (I'm not a fan of all that Google crap). Recovery is latest version of Philz.

So far I have deleted cache as per instructions here.

I have tried that GPS app for calibrating here. This app cannot locate any satellites at all.

I remember seeing a thread about going into this menu (*#0*#) and making sure some value was 3 instead of 1 or 2 but I can't find the value and I can't find the thread either.

I tried putting the full Gapps package on too. I figured this wouldn't matter but I wanted to make sure.

All the cm based and aosp roms have busted GPS for the Sprint s3 (and varients; virgin, boost etc.)

I thought that was fixed around a month ago? Also why would the GPS not work with the stock rooted odexed rom?

EDIT: OHHH just on the Sprint/variants. I see. What would be some alternate choices as GPS is very important since I take public transportation?

I'm running wicked s5 experience, very nice. GPS works fine.

OK thanks! I'll check it out. I do really love the Pac-Rom though. Hopefully this issue can be fixed soon.

Do you have a link for S5 experience? I don't see it anywhere on here.

Its touchwiz based though, not aosp. I personally like touchwiz when its trimmed down and optimized like this.
here it is.

I finally found the thing mentioned above relating to changing a GPS value from 1 or 2 to 3. It fixed the issue. GPS WORKS!!! It is not actually a value you can change it is a compass looking thingy with a line for the radius and in the middle is a number. You need to move the phone around in a figure 8 motion to change the value to 3. Here is what I did:

1) Make a nandroid backup
2) Flash a TouchWiz ROM
3) http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=56760440
4) Restore nandroid

Just to be clear I am running 12/31/14 Pac-Rom and I went outside with location set to device only (GPS sensor only) and walked down the street till I was well out of my wIfi range and came back and the blue dot in Google maps tracked me the whole way.

That absolutely worked. I'm running CM12 unofficial sprint build on virgin S3 (not the triband) with GPS working perfectly. Good find bro.

It took me a long time to figure out that I was looking for an actual compass looking thing. I thought there would be a txt box where I could change the value to 3. That sensor screen has one hell of a lot of stuff in it.
