Root [Virgin Mobile] Hard Brick got you down? [Please Sticky]

Hey so I've been poking around with my Galaxy S3 SPH-L710 by VMU and ended up Hard Bricking it. Fortunately enough, I fell across this post and felt the need to share.

The first thread is for those a little more Ubuntu knowledged. The latter, a Windows version.

Also, I have upgraded to a ND8 modem and all the other debricking images were just not working for me. I have uploaded the one that did. Hope this helps.

I was playing with this method when I had a bricked phone. Ended up making my own image and could not get it it work. I suspect it was my sd card, but it was the only one I had that was the right size.

Did you update to the latest modem? Maybe that was it. The file above works for that modem.

I bricked updating the modem from MK5 to NDC. So I would have needed a debrick img made from the 4.3 (you use a img from the version for the bootloader you were upgrading from when the brick happened). I did also try a 4.4 img just to make sure. The phone was under warranty so I did not mess with it any more and just had it replaced.

The only thing I noticed when trying to do this was that the phone did act differently when the debrick sd card was in. Plugging the phone in via usb with no battery would make my computer constantly make the sound for "usb connection failed", however with the sd card in it never made that noise.

Mine did the same with just having the microsd put in, plugged in to usb, and THEN putting in battery. Also, the front light flashed red.

Hi, I hard bricked my sprint galaxy s3 phone trying to flash a rom.

"[ROM][364MB][NB6]Revolutionary S5 V3 - Why buy an S5? [PATCHED V3]"

which was for I9300 or I9305 not L710.
I ordered a samsung usb jig. i bought a 16gb/ class 10 card to try this: [GUIDE]Unbrick a Hard Bricked SPRINT Galaxy … | Sprint Galaxy S3 | XDA Forums

I have tried a couple different debrick images from the web.

I was on official kit kat before I flashed rev s5.

I tried 2 methods: the YouTube video with win disk imager 32, and with Ubuntu terminal. I have tried both methods with sd micro cards speed 10, 32gb and 16gb.

Neither are getting my phone to do anything,

Should I start looking for a jtag service?

Worked great for me! My phone won't boot at all though unless I have the unbrick sd card in. Any fixes so I can use another sd card?
