Root [Virgin Mobile] rooting stock 4.4.2

I really want to create a wifi hotspot out of this phone. Just got it (the phone). Upgraded to 4.4.2. All of the instructional material on the internet that I have found is specific to previous versions (4.3). I don't know enough about rooting to try to use software designed for previous versions. Will it work?

Help me please!

4.3 rooting method works the same on 4.4

-use Odin to flash Philz recovery
-use Philz to flash SU
-update SU on Play store
