Root [Virgin Mobile] Thinking about switching phones and have a few questions

I currently have the Samsung Galaxy Ring, but it only has about 1.5 GB of memory on it. I have a 64 GB SD card, but it doesn't let me download more apps, so I still can have few apps.

If I switch to this phone, will I be able to use the SD card to store apps, or make my internal memory my external? The Ring doesn't have a workable mod for this. Also, it's the biggest thing I want in a phone, but there are things that I like on my current phone, as well.

So...am I able to use a mod to enable a wifi Hotspot without paying? The Galaxy Ring can, but I can't tell if this phone can. Also, what can I do to boost my signal? When I first got my Ring, the signal was so bad that I couldn't send texts or call in my house, but there was a mod that boosted the signal (or let me use another companies tower or something), so I could actually send texts and receive calls. Is there a similar mod for this phone?

The s3 has 16 GB of internal storage and yes it let's you move apps to sdcard also. There is a way to get the hotspot working, flashing a ROM (conquest) or flashing the sprint stock ROM then hotspot mod. There is also an app in the play store that works great for hotspot for s3, its called WiFi tether router. It costs like 3 bucks but worth it.
As for internal to external, that's useless as it doesn't swap the part of storage where apps are stored on ANY phone. It only helps with games with large data or obb files as those files are the only ones that get swapped from internal to external. But that's not needed for this phone anyways, just sharing some info. But 16gb of storage and ability to move some apps to SD means you can install PLENTY of apps.
