Virgin Mobile USA iPhone only by 2018?

I've been looking at several articles online. VM started the changeover on June 27. I just got a LG Stylo 3 a few weeks before this happened, so it's a total surprise to me. (Most of us have a life, ya know...) Anyway...

Anyone have ideas on where I can use my phone via another carrier? It is CDMA, so I'd need to use a prepaid carrier that supports CDMA. As far as I can tell, mid 2018 is when VM plans to stop supporting Android phones... unless I'm missing something? I do know the brand is the weakest among Sprint's prepaid carriers.

So again... anyone have some advice for me? I was hoping to use the phone for more than a year, at least. I managed that with my previous phone, a LG Stylo (which I still have, along with some other VM LG phones). There are some prepaid carriers that I think can accept VM phones...? I spent a considerable chunk of cash for this phone a few weeks ago. This is extremely annoying, as I no longer use a landline at home, to say the least.

Thanks for reading.

Looks like the Stylo 3 supports the GSM bands as well. I would think most any carrier would work, but you might want to verify that before you sign up. If possible, borrow a SIM from somebody on the carrier you are considering and pop it in your phone to check.

I realize this is an old entry, but I figured I might as well keep it here.

Any Android users still on VM USA? I noticed that the site is still selling a few Android phones. I no longer have an account there, as I recently ported my number to AT&T prepaid, and am now using an unlocked moto G6 as my daily driver. If you're on VM, any updates from the forums as to when they'll discontinue Android support? Before I left, I didn't see anything about that, or when they would have decided to help folks transition from VM to boost mobile.

I totally understand if you're holding on to your VM account. Their $35 and $45 plans are reasonably priced, with plenty of high speed data per billing month for most users. But I think you should move to a different MVNO or carrier soon, unless you want to use an iPhone over an Android phone.

I read the conference call transcript. Ok... Well, that's great for the Android VM customers... I dunno if I'll come back. Only if I find any issues with AT&T in the next few months... Good thing about my unlocked moto g6 is that it also has the CDMA network bands.

I might give my LG Stylo 3 to my mom. She's still on VM. I'll send her this story.

Thanks for posting the story. Appreciate it. :)

LOL... It's Sprint in the US. They're backpedaling. The Sprint network overall is hemorrhaging profits. They're still looking to merge with TMobile, if you've read any telco news lately.

I don't care anymore. I'm happy with my at&t prepaid service.
