Virtual XP

I got 7 pro put on a laptop. It has virtual XP. I have a few questions about it.

1. I rooted my phone on an XP laptop. Saved files, did backups, no problem.
7 doesn't work the same way. It fusses. I tried to transfer the backup file
via USB from when I first rooted the Nexus 4 and 7 went nuts about malware. Even offline and with NOD32 disabled.

2. Can I use the virtual XP? It's fussing about security but it's going through
secured 7. (I'm running Illustrator 8 since Adobe buggered CS2.) Will it
behave like the actual XP laptop or give me different fits?

If virtual won't do it, I'll keep the real XP laptop for a bit. I suppose I can turn on Windows security. (I don't use it - I prefer to buy a different AV and FW.)
I'm finally getting ambitious enough to do something about the ROM.

If you gives you fits you can always use a virtualization package such as Oracle VM VirtualBox - https://www.virtualbox.org/

With it you can run a complete virtual install of Windows XP or even a Linux distro so long as you have the hard drive space to dedicate to the virtual machine OS you want to host.

My suggestion for running a virtual machine for personal use like this is to relax the security settings and enable full exposure of the host system hardware to the virtual machine to ensure speed and a more native XP environment.

Keep in mind that if you want to get into full android development you are going to need a 64bit environment for system and kernel code of the newer android releases, if your XP isnt 64bit than its a good time to try a Ubuntu 64bit.
