Apps Virtualizing Android on a PC in VirtualBox?

I don't code but I'd like to play around with Android a bit on my PC. I was wondering if anyone has had success running Android in VirtualBox on a PC? If so, where can I obtain an ISO? I posted same question to the Lounge but I figure that the app developer community is more likely to know the answer to this question.
