I may be wrong because it's been a while but did you try the voicemail setup in the phone app settings? Not general settings but in the actual phone app.

Work on my phone HTC One Google edition just fine. It work on my previous Nexus 4 too.

Yes, we are all in prepaid.

It is in the bottom of all of my audio voice mails. Or go to settings and add voice mail to text.

Voicemail translated to text is a paid service but that is not the fee for regular voicemails. Visual Voicemail is free. It does not work on all phones.

When I get visual voicemail on Vonage it is actually visual and I can read the voicemail I guess I was wrong in thinking it would be the same way from T-Mobile.

To me there is nothing visual about this voice mail.

Personally, I use Google Voice but their translation sucks.

I'm on prepaid right now so I can't use Google voice or I would. Hoping to get onto an uncarrier plan soon though.

GV is only good if you give out your GV number not your actual cell phone number. Since I use GV primarily and give out that number and use that number, it works well for me. It's not for everyone though.

Google Voice voicemail works very well regardless of what number you use. Personally, I use my GV number for most stuff and reserve my 'real' number for friends and family. But all voicemail comes via GV.
