Help Visual Voicemail problem w/Verizon

I just switched from the iPhone to the Nexus 6P. I popped in my verizon SIM and it works.

I'm having an issue with visual voicemail. Everytime I get a voicemail, I get a text from Verizon with weird codes and the number that called.

I installed Googe Voice and thought this would let me use Visual Voicemail on verison. I looked and do have Basic Visual Voicemail on in my verizon account. But I think this might be for iPhone only?

Any help with this would be great.

thanks.

Verizon's Visual Voicemail is a VZW product only, and it is proprietary.

FWIW, it is junk.... I highly suggest you delete the app, go to the website and turn it OFF.

they are charging you for that service, and it is useless... totally frickin useless.

Why? it will ONLY work between two VZW phones, IF and ONLY if both of those phones have Visual Voicemail enabled????

My phone has over 500 contacts on it, and not a single one of them has VZW Visual Voicemail....
and when I asked my wife about getting it, the very 1st thing she asked was:
1: why?
2: How much
3: Hell No!

it lasted almost 15 minutes for me after that.

Skype is cheaper, and works better, anywhere, globally.

I dont have to pay for Voicemail. It says Basic Visual Voicemail $0.00
Premium Visual Voicemail $2.99
I'm using the Basic. I did switch to just Basic Voicemail and not visual voicemail. Now I dont get the weird text message every time I get a message, but I have to call into voicemail to get the messages.

Oh, that is normal, you just hold down on the #1 button and it will AutoDial into voice mail.

if you go to your voice mail account in Settings, you can change the phone number, add 2 pauses and your password, then it is all automatic. I see now in the screenshots, I have reduced it to 1 pause. It used to be two pauses, but lately, I noticed that the service is faster and a single ',' will do the trick.

Updating because I didn't see the answer in this forum. Verizon comes standard with free Basic Visual Voicemail. Some people are paying for Premium Visual Voicemail. Neither of these currently work with the 6P. To get rid of those weird text messages, call up Verizon and ask them to switch you to IMS Voicemail. For me it was quick and easy and solved the problem. Now when I have a message I get the icon in notifications.

Yup!
I called and had the Visual Voicemail pop-up crap removed from all my lines. Some of us use Google Voice and some Verizon but no one wanted the VVM stupid thing. No more pop-ups, dial in to get voice mail or use GV, everyone is happy.
