Help VLC for Android 3.0.1 Not Playing Music

Hello all,

I've been using VLC Media Player as my primary source of music on my Galaxy S8 since I bought it. Just two days ago, it stopped playing any music files. It does still play videos and their accompanying audio without any problems.

My library consists mainly of FLAC files, but the few mp3s that I have also are not playing. When I tap on any song to play it, it will begin playing the first millisecond or so of a track before stopping and not continuing. Does anyone else know about this bug? Has anyone else experienced this?

Here's some more info:

• My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S8.
• I'm running Android 7.0 with Samsung Experience version 8.1
• My exact model number is SM-G950U1
• This problem has happened with VLC 3.0.1 (and I've also replicated it with a few of the recent nightly builds).
• I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling VLC.

Any information or insight would be appreciated.

I have axactly tge same problem, on Samsung Galaxy S7. It plays music for a fraction of a second, then stops.

It's obviously a catastrophic bug. I have had to abandon VLC player.

Sounds like you both need to contact the dev and report the issues so that they get resolved.

I have exactly the same problem on my M8S TV Box, however the same version works perfectly on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3
