Vlingo Safereader not reading emails

I think I discovered that if my screen times out, it doesn't wake to read email, but I do get the sound notification. But if the screen is up, it will read the email. Or when I wake up the screen, it will read any massages.

For emails I get the normal message notification though my phone does not "wake" (screen does not come back on)

However, Texts ARE read regardless if the screen times out, and my phone "wakes up" (screen comes back on)

SUMMARY: Screen off = Email sound notification, but no SafeReader and no screen wake up. But it does wake and read my incoming texts.

Am I missing a setting for my phone to wake upon receipt of new emails?

Did you ever find a solution to your problem? Even though I registered email addresses, I can't even get Vlingo safereader to read emails at all, even with the screen awake...It is an app I very much appreciated working seamlessly with my former Blackberry...and am very frustrated that it does not seem to be working with my Android (HTC Inspire 4g).
