Vlingo vs Google Voice Search + Actions

Whats everyones take on both these applications? I've just started using the new google voice actions and think its amazing, and actually interprets my speech quite well! Voice actions I think provide a bit more robust actions over vlingo, as they can be used to get directions, navigate you somewhere, call certain businesses etc.

I do like the idea of Vlingo's, text to speech, reading who's calling you or a new email or message. I use handcent and that has text to speech although its extremely quiet even if i turn it up completely. I also can't understand it most of the time as it speaks too fast in its funny computer voice!

Another plus, Vlingo is now FREE! I haven't downloaded it yet as I'm just enjoying Googles new voice actions, but I would be interested in a comparison with accuracy and speed in both these applications!

Have used both and being in UK with a very UK accent I find both these applications are fairly poor at recognition for me. Tried vlingo read my text and emails and apart from the American voice it worked well.

Wish google would support UK recognition as much as they do American as it looks fantastic if you are American. Oh well, back to slideit text input and manual searching :)

The best thing about the Google Voice app is the amusement it gives you when its translated your message. Earlier 'Listen to Dokken' came back as "Did you mean 'listen to f***ing'?" and "Did you mean 'listen to the cat'?" LOL.

It may work fine with the crisp mid-western tones demonstrated by the chirpy googler in the video but it's absolutely useless with my dull-as-dishwatter Yorkshire brogue...

I actually just downloaded Vlingo, and it is much better at recognising my voice, being an aussie. Unlike google if i ask it to text or email a contact it actually recognises the send text to "...." rather then google just writing to "..." hey how are you in the message box.

So for the time being Vlingo definately gets my voice!
