VM LG G Stylo 5.1.1 Cannot update to 6.0

I rooted my 5.1.1 Build LMY47V version LS770Zv5 via Busy box SuperSu method. I un rooted and now would like to update to MM. I get the update download. Then I do the install, it runs does it thing. Restarts then proceeds to install but then gives me a dead droid. I reboot and all is OK. Am I missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like you may have to use the unbrick method. It's detailed on the top section of the Rooting tab. Most likely it didn't upgrade completely to 6. It is stuck as you didn't unroot while in 5.1.1 before upgrading.

Software version: LS770ZV5. Not sure about doing an unbrick on phone. I runs with no problem right now on 5.1.1. The update is LS770ZV5_16-LS770ZV7_15_update.zip. When I click install this it is a go, then reboots saying it is updating then a dead android. I will reboot and the phone is OK after that but it does not install the update.

Yeah I un rooted with Super Su and checked with root checker before I tried the update.

But you still have root files in the system, just cause ya unrooted and root checker doesn't detect that it's rooted doesn't mean there's leftover root corpses hanging around in the system files.

That's why you'd have to unbrick it, IDK If it'd be safe or not to do a factory reset, but leftovers are preventing the update from taking to the system, try deep cleaning your phone with sd maid or ccleaner and see how many corpses (APP/Root/BusyBox/SuperSU Leftovers) it found in the graveyard that is android's file system.

Android is horrible at cleaning up after a app is uninstalled, that's why it's recommended before uninstalling an app to clear it's cache and then uninstall the app.

I have factory reset and tried.. No go same thing. I will try sdmaid and cc and see what happens. Off to eat dinner with the wife then some TV before I have to go to work in the morning. I will keep everyone updated. Thanks for the help so far. Please don't give up on me. Thanks again.

628.75 MB Cleaned in cache. 11 Empty folders. With CC. Not familiar with sd maid. Anyone familiar?

Using it now but I am not sure of the options. Should I take my SD card out? I do not want to loose anything on it.

OK so playing around to see if a setting I made was preventing an update I unchecked OEM unlocking then ran update however I did not watch it but I think it did the update. I did not get MM but I do not get any more system update notifications. Was this not the MM update?
