So, I have and enjoy a VM Optimus with the $25/month plan. I would like a larger screen and was actually eyeing an SGS2 at half price retail (probably not happening). My girlfriend loves her iPhone 4 but has beaten the snot out of it- the speaker is messed up and it has about an hour of battery life. She doesn't talk much and a boostcase has fixed the second issue but she needs a new phone. She can get an early upgrade, whatever that is, in October. She adores her phone and it has served her well but I'd like to see us both bump up a bit in size and speed (my OV matches up pretty well with her wherever we go), get a more affordable, easily replaced phone with a removable battery (her), get off contracts (her again

This seems like a pretty sweet deal. -I- want a bit bigger screen but I can always save up for an SGS2/3/Note (we could even swap SIM cards into this for special events!) and keep this as a backup/beach (I work beach volleyball in the summer) phone. I've accepted the fact that while she may be able to get a few bucks for her iPhone my OV will be almost worthless. I also have a Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 that I'd like to replace with a 3/4G 7" tablet someday, though she loves this thing! Ideally, but not the biggest issue, we'd also be able to have the same chargers for everything we'd have and compatibility of apps and such.
We both spend the majority of our time in Chicago (TMobile map shows strong reception) and would probably get either the $30/5gb or the $60 plan. We occasionally go to Michigan (both phones suck up there) and NW Indiana. She has some iTunes stuff but also has an iPod so I don't think she really "needs" to stick with an iPhone.
Assuming favorable peer pressure, I would buy both rightsoon and only open one to try and get a solid feel for it- battery life, rooting,...
Any thoughts on this? I'll be headed to the local TMobile store to try to get hands on an Exhibit ll again tomorrow. Thanks!
