Voice announcing SMS messages help!

My G S 3 reads off "New Message from John Smith" every time I get a text. Or whoever it is from.

I use Handcent as my SMS app. Can I turn this off? Is it a Handcent setting or Samsung setting?

Check to make sure "Driving Mode" is not enabled.

Settings --> Language & Input --> Text to Speech Output --> Driving Mode. If it's *on*, your phone will read out all new calls/texts.

Thank you. That did it! Learning about the phone as I've only had it a week.

By the way I'm from Keene but I've been in FL for 10 years now.
