Voice Dialer not working after syncing Contacts

I have an EVO Shift (sprint) and the voice dialer worked until I synced "People" from my outlook. Once that sync happens, the "Voice Dialer" app that is stock with the phone stops working.

Has anyone else had this issue and do you know if there is any resolve? And if there is no resolve, any suggestions on alternative apps?

I have a new Epic which was updated in the store to 2.2 and I synced with my Google Contacts and the Voice Dialer doesn't work. Didn't try it before I added the contacts so don't know if it worked after 2.2 without the contacts.

Any suggestions?
