Voice dialing problem solved

My phone stopped being able to voice dial via my Kenwood radio in my truck with the Android 4.3 upgrade. It was always flaky with 4.2 but it worked most of the time. Upgrading to 4.4.2 didn't help. Now after much frustration it is working. First I apologize but the only step that I know that is absolutely necessary if you are having a similar problem with voice dialing in your car is to turn off SVoice. The other things I mention may or may not be necessary.

The other two things I did was I came across a setting (sorry don't remember where) that allowed me to choose between Samsung VLingo and Google Voice or something similar. I chose Samsung Vlingo since it was already set to Google Voice (or Google something) and it wasn't working. The other thing I did was turn Voice Control on which requires you to check at least one of the options and I chose just the first option which was answer or reject calls.

The last time my phone failed to dial I had SVoice turned on, Samsung Vlingo selected and Voice control turned on. Next I turned off SVoice leaving the other two alone and it worked perfectly the first time and every time since. It works better than it did with 4.2.

I don't know what all you can do with Samsung Vlingo and turning off SVoice has killed my ability to talk instead of type for text messages but at least I can now voice dial when driving. I can also answer calls and carry on a conversation all hands free while driving.

Hope this helps someone else who lost their ability to voice dial in their car with the recent OS upgrades.
