Voice to Message

Trying to get my voice to text messages on my Galaxy phone.

When I open up my messages there is no option to speak my messages to the phone like I had on my old iphone which was Siri.

I then downloaded an app but I cant find it and doesnt seem to work.

Is there a good free app that can assist with this?

Are you trying to type your text messages using your voice? Usually your keyboard will have a little mic icon somewhere on it. Press on it and it will type what you say. If you don't see the mic, download gboard (Google keyboard) and you'll have the mic icon on it

Ok...I seem to be downloading apps that either dont turn up or dont work.

I just enabled Playstore which was disabled....so do you think this was the reason?

How were you downloading apps workout play store?

After you download gboard, find the app in your apps drawer, open it and make it your default keyboard.

See screenshot. That's gboard. The mic is on top of the P key

Sorry you have to bear with me as new to Galaxy.

There are that many avenues on my phone where I can get to the apps I have forgotten which one I used.....never mind.

I had to go into it and move it to my "Google Apps" desktop app folder before it would work.

Do I need the "Google Text to speech" app anymore?

Is it working fine now?

I'm not sure what this app is. Text to speech is not what you need as far as i understand. You're looking for speech to text, and not the opposite.

So if this is an app that you have downloaded, go ahead and uninstall it.

Yes working now......thanks.......yeah I meant Google speech to text app......how do I remove it.......several apps dont have the option......I like to run a lean phone....

If you don't see an uninstall option when you find the app in settings/apps rather you see a disable open, I'd say just leave it there. You don't wanna break anything when not knowing what it's for. For all you know, gboard is using that app to help with the mic...
