Voice to text dictation freezing/stopping

Especially when using TEXTRA messaging app, but still when I use gmail, or most other apps where text entry can be done and there ia a microphone symbol, it will type what I say for a few sentences and then freeze. If I leave the app and then come back to it it will sometimes work, other times I have to stop the app and then it will work.
It is as if the accumulative amount of data somehow freezes it? Anyone else an avid hands-free voice command and voice text person here? Any idea on how to make it stop freezing ?

Do you have an custom rom or are you rooted??

Neither. With my LH V30, I didn't need either this time around.
Is there a connection?
