I have a LG Optimus Showtime, When I have a voice mail nothing shows on my main screen. Is there a way to change that? Also when texting word suggestions do nor pop up. Any help there?

One of the cool things about Android is it is very flexible. For your notification problems, I would look around at different launchers. ADW Launcher is a popular launcher. Then install ADW Notifier.
As far as the keyboard goes, give Google Keyboard a try. It's a free keyboard replacement that works pretty well.
