Voicemail notification not displaying

Hi, all. My GNote 9 will not display the notification in the notification bar for new voicemail. I have to check my voicemail each time I see a missed call to see if a voicemail was left. Highly annoying. I'm running Android Pie (version 9). The little # badge shows on the phone icon if I have a missed call, so some kind of notification is getting through.

Google searches point me to things that don't exist on my phone.

U.S. user on Verizon.

Thanks for any help!!

Open your dialer and click on settings>voicemail and see if you have notifications enabled. You might also check the app settings for "phone" and see if you have turned off permissions for it to display voicemail notifications. It's really easy to accidentally disable notifications for an app if you dismiss one when it asks about permissions without realizing it.

The Launcher app handles the icon badges, so it make sense that they still display if you permissions are off for the phone app.

OMG! I finally found the solution. (Thanks, lunatic59 for the reply, but below is what fixed it:)

I had to go into my actual Plan through verizonwireless and turn ON the feature to both block Visual Voice Mail and Premium Visual Voicemail. As soon as I did this, my badges and notifications started showing up.

Here's how:

Log into verizonwireless on your PC (can probably do on your phone as well, but I did mine on the PC)
Select the phone to change
Choose My Plan
Choose "Blocks"
Expand "Block Services"
Expand "Purchases"
Turn ON Block Visual Voice Mail
Turn ON Block Premium Visual Voice Mail

All badges working correctly now. The kids at the Verizon Store in the mall didn't know how to do this, either. It was a poster to the VW forums who came up with the solution.

Hope this helps someone else!
