Voicemail Notification?

Hope I can find someone who can help me, I've been googling high and low for days with no solution. I have a K20 V with Verizon as my carrier and for some reason I can't find a way to get an on screen notification when I receive a voicemail.

Verizon's own apps included on the phone has Visual Voicemail but I don't want to use that, as it requires you to sign up and use data, I just want normal basic run of the mill voicemail, with a notification when someone leaves one. The way things are currently, I have to call my voicemail every day to see if any have been left, which really isn't convenient. I can't find any other settings on the phone that deal with voicemail. On all my previous phones, I'd get a popup or a little icon to alert me. Am I missing something here, or is signing up for the data-using Visual Voicemail the only way to get voicemail notifications on the K20 V?

Well when I was looking for a Visual Voicemail app for AT&T when I was with them,I couldn't find one that worked well and was free.So I had to stick with what I had.
Even the one that is on my current phone wants me to pay for additional service.And this is Sprint.But I do get a on screen,navigation bar, and sound notification too on my LG Stylo 2 phone.
You may have to use the Verizon app to get everything to work right,BTW,It does not use hardly any data.I can't see hardly any data usage from the voicemail app on my phone.

Did you check the Verizon visual voicemail app settings? Maybe there is a setting to opt out and use the regular notifications. Or disable the app (settings/apps/[app name]/disable. that might force it back to the regular ones

*Sigh* Son to the rescue. I'm now at the age where the kid knows more than Mom. He pointed out a *TINY* little tape recorder icon in the top left corner that I never saw because of the color of my wallpaper. I switched to a darker wallpaper and now I can see it.
