Volume button does not silence phone now since update!?

Volume button does not silence the phone since the new version of Android 11!
Is there a way to get the ringer to silence the text too or is this version fried?

Have you tried rebooting?

Still defaults to the media volume. This is also the case for our galaxy 20 android 11.

To be clear I have to toggle the volume, then touch the 3 dots, then touch the ringer volume in the second tear Then the volume button will operate the Ringer!

So I turned off the media volume in settings and it fixed the problem and it still works for the media volume when I use my player. Who would have thought!!
