Volume in reference to hearing person I am speaking to

I bought a Zte Merit 990 a month ago, and really like it. However, being
new to this type of phone, I evidently have hit a wrong setting, because all of sudden I can barely hear the person I am talking to. I have to put the phone on speaker to hear the conversation. Volume in every other aspect is fine .... ring tones, notifications, etc..... It is only hearing the voice on the other end. I would very much apprecite someone advising me on how to remedy this annoying situation.

Hi jbarth and welcome to the great Android Forums.

Your best bet would be to make a phone call to someone and while you are in the call press the volume up button on the phone to increase the call volume.
