Help Volume Jumps when Using an Equalizer

It seems that whenever I use an equalizer on any S3 audio playback program when I play a song after it being paused the volume jumps way up and then back down in a split second. It only happens when I have an equalizer on (use it to lower the volume as I listen to music quietly) and only in music playback programs. Any ideas as to why this would happen? Happened in my previous S3 (got a new one b/c of some other issues) and now happens in this one as well. The problem disappears when I turn the equalizer off but it'd be silly if I couldn't use an equalizer because of this...
 
Sorry, is the equaliser a separate application or part of the player? n Can we have some app names for reference please?
