Volume keeps turning itself up?

Not sure what to do about this, my Pixel XL keeps turning its volume up. the volume button itself is not stuck and the fact that my phone can be asleep and out of nowhere the volume turns all the way up can be intrusive and just annoying. when the phone is turned on the volume bar will stay turned on at the top of the screen so that portion is inaccessible and the phone will not allow me to put it to sleep while it believes that the volume is still being actively turned up. Tried restarting the phone and no luck.
Suggestions?

I use MacroDroid to set the volume levels to my specific wishes,

Screen awake: set it like I want

Screen asleep: set it like I want..

this way, no matter how many fingers touch the volume controls, the macro will force all volume levels to your wishes.

Assuming you don't have a case on your phone, it sounds like a hardware issue - reach out to Google and they will help either debug or replace it.

I agree with jj14x. You should reach out to Google as this sounds like a defect.
