Viper4Android works very well and has lots of options for an equalizer. You can also just use it to make things louder. Check over on XDA.

Drivers fail to install despite being rooted with busy box installed as well as made the changes to build.prop

Try installing busybox on rails from the play store, I know you already have busybox installed, but not all versions of busybox link applets properly and this one does. Then make sure superuser is updated to the latest version and binary. Finally reinstall the driver. Should work.
Edit: I'm not totally clear if we need to, but I also used selinux changer to change selinux support to permissive.
