I want to get a different sound when a particular contact in my contact lists sends me a message. In particular this is the work representation of me. Our companies outlook sends me notifications via my work email address over vtext to my cell.

In the messaging app of my cellphone it properly identifies my work persona/contact. However if I view that contact and change the notification tone contact the vtext messages still use the generic notification tone.

I can put my cell phone number into my work contact and message myself. Then I get the contact specific notification sound. It seems only vtext notifications ignore the contact specific sound and use the generic sound.

Is this a known issue? Is there a work around?

I think you would need to add the pseudo number your work is sending the message from to your work persona / contact for the messaging app to recognize who is sending the message. Like when I get messages from Verizon Wireless (my carrier) it comes from a number, but it isn't a phone number.
