VZW 30 Day Return Policy?? Help

I need some help understanding the 30 Day return policy...

I bought a CPO D2, Buy 1 Get 1. After toying with it, I'd like to keep one of them and return the other.
1st: Is it possible to return only the 1 phone? I understand it would be the free one, I'm not looking for money back.

2nd: Is there a $35 restock fee in the 30 day window. That's what the rep told me but I don't remember that in the past.

3rd: If I do return it, will that phone line get its upgrade eligibility back? Or is that out the window?

My goal is to return the phone and use my upgrade when it was previously due in approx 10 months... To make it worse I bought it through VZW online so they are not as willing to work with me at the stores...

PLEASE HELP,

Mike

1. If the phones were discounted as part of a BOGO, you would have to return both and purchase the other at the standard activation price.

2. $35 restock applies for all devices bought and are within 30/14 days of original purchase date.

3. You will get your upgrade back

1. Yes, you can. My mom bought us Vortexes BOGO and she only had to return the one for my line.

2. If the one you're returning is unopened, I don't believe so. My returned phone was unopened, just the outer shipping carton was opened to retrieve the return sticker and I haven't been charged a restock fee.

3. Yes, you have to wait for it to be received back at the warehouse. If you're impatient like me, as soon as the phone has been shown as received via the tracker, you can call and ask Verizon to reset your eligibility, they just need to verify the same information (ie that the phone was received back at the warehouse)

The Vortexes in my case were bought online and my mom was able to swap hers in store for a purple one instead and though we had a little trouble because I was impatient and wanted my phone to be free in a Best Buy instead, I've had my Incredible for a week and a half and LOVE it. Good luck with your phones!!

Just to update my own post, lol

My local Corp store said I would have to return both phones... Pay a restock fee on both, and then resale the one D2 and possibly swap me out for another phone of same value or return and give me back my upgrade. Also they confirmed I have 30 days since I purchased before Jan 16. (Bought on Jan 10)

Doesn't seem like this rep was really all that confident in his response, I think I'll head back later and try and get another rep...

Make sure you do it quick, as I believe word through the grapevine is Verizon is shortening their return policy. I could be wrong, as I've only heard it once and then it didn't pop back up, but I'd just check just to be sure.

Thanks SC. I think new policy is 14days for anything purchased after Jan 16th. 30Days for anything purchase on the 15th or sooner.

It's pretty amazing how quietly that passed by though...

I'm still a little urked by the restocking fee. Is that for phones only? I remember going through 3-4 BT Headsets trying to find the right one and I never payed any restocking fees.

Yes, that's what I heard about the new return policy. I'm not sure about the restocking fee, as I work for an authorized retailer, not for a Verizon corporate store, and we don't have restocking fees in my store. Sorry
=(

I did the same with the d2g. Having loved my d1, but on the 3d refurb, I figured this is the way to go.

For my use, the phones are useless. The battery life is just horrible. I can't make it thru the day with the way I use it. On my d1 I would get till 10 pm, and I travel lots. I rooted, did all the tricks.

Also, the phone keeps losing wifi. I found on the forums this is a known issue.

I would like to return them within my 30 days, but I really don't believe I should be paying a $35 restock fee. I would be keeping these phones if they worked properly . I know everyone is telling me smartphones use battery etc., but I have had a treo, curve, storm, and d1. I know smartphones. And this just isn't adequate. I have swapped phones, so it isn't the particular one I had, it is the model.

What are the chances I can get this returned without paying $35.

The only thing I can think of would be to call customer support instead of going into the store and making a fuss to them. They may let you mail the phone to them or something. You'd have to pay shipping but at least not the restocking fee (I assume).

This is the response I got from a CSR on the phone:

Return D2 (this is my free one from a BOGO) for the following:
Credit my account back the costs which are taxes, plus get my upgrade eligibility back
or
Swap straight across for a CPO Inc or SF (not sure which is better here)
or
Swap for the CPO DX and they will credit my purchase for $49, thus bringing the cost down to $50 for CPO DX

Just I thought I'd share what options I was given in case it helps anybody else out. The rep double checked and said I DO NOT need to return both phones... If only all of the CSR's were on the same page.

(I posted this in another thread already, sorry for the duplicate. One hand on the phone, other and was huntin and peckin lol)
