I just had what was probably one of the most unpleasant customer service experiences ever. I had to vent, I can not make stuff up like this on my own. I am not that clever.
A week ago, I got yet another replacement phone, no return label in the paperwork. I call in. That rep said they would send out a new label and when I asked about the timing of my bill cycle and the like, that rep assured me that I would not be charged. Today I get multiple texts saying $500 will be charged if you dont return your phone. I have not gotten a label yet.
So I call to try and see what is going on, I dont want to deal with $500 debits and credits on my account. My experience is that it never works out for the customer becasue of some automated glitch that the customer has to clean up in the end.
The customer service rep answers and identifies herself as a 'cell phone magician'. I remarked 'really, an honest to gosh magician?' and she says 'yes, certified even'. and I am like WTF? That should have been a clue right there.
She give me some song and dance that the charges will be reversed once I send in the phone. And I am like, I will, once I get the label... and she proceeds to give me some pre-quoted song and dance about its in the hands of tech suppoprt since they issued the certified replacement and they have to issue the label. So I am like, ok, then get me the label.
She then says to hold for 'a quick sec' and my call gets transfered to some other unsuspecting customer service rep. He has no clue what is going on. My call he said came in like a regular call for the first time.
He then informs me that the previous operator is from a contracted customer service company, outside of Verizon! I am not happy at this point. First I get some idiot magician on the phone, whodoes not help me, AND does nothing to aggrevate the situation, AND has access to my account info.
Has anyone had their call handled by some outside contracted company? I have visions of the felons and inmates from that 20/20 documentary in my head.
I do have to say though, that the second rep, assumingly authentic VZW personel, did a good job of trying to rectify the situation and make me happy. NOt perfect but to his credit, he did the best he could barring from coming to get the phone himself.
