Woohoo! I woke up this morning, went to take the Droid off the charger and the screen goes black. Next thing I know the little system update notice pops up. Holy crap, verizon FINALLY sent out the official Android 2.2 update for the original Droid! I haven't had much of a chance to play with it, But thus far I'm noticing a few things (Keep in mind I'm running Launcherpro Plus instead of the standard home screen):
1. Everything is faster - not drastically faster, but everything is peppier.
2. the virtual keyboard has been upgraded again. It seems to be a bit better about word suggestions and now it also gives punctuation suggestions. Neat.
3. email accounts are now noted while in your inbox
4. menus are slightly different
5. Some software that had been upgrading to work with 2.2 suddenly works differently. the biggest one is Weatherbug, which now adds a full graphical preview screen inside the pull-down notification menu.
6. The pull-down notification menu now says verizon wireless when opened (who's the jack ass who inserted that)
7. the market now has a widget that gives your descriptions of recommended apps (It sucks)
8. some desktop shortcuts died and had to be replaced from the app drawer. the oddest one was the camera.
9. The picture gallery animation is now much smoother
10. you have a new much better rendered analog clock widget; a new Home screen tips widget; Twitter widgets seem to have installed themselves (I've never installed twitter on my phone); and two different google search widgets (a basic and a more advanced one); and
11. The look of the texting screen has changed.
I'm sure there is a bunch of other stuff, which I'll find over the next few days. The biggest thing I'm looking for is how to save apps to the SD card, and whether it is possible to just move installed apps there (or do I have to reinstall them).
Overall thus far I'm very pleasantly impressed.
